Since the lockdown and the rise of online classes, plagiarism has been at its peak. Not just limited to the students but the content creators on the internet are also victims of plagiarism. The rise of plagiarism has led to the downfall of creativity in the industry. Every individual has tried to use someone's content to stay relevant, be it on the Internet or just sake of the assignment. There should be a plagiarism check to hold control of the content that is been produced. So many of the creators need plagiarism checks so that they are sure that they are credited well. While being on the Internet there are so many articles we go through every day or every single minute. We too sense many times that some articles are plagiarised and need a strict eye on them.
How to identify if the content is plagiarised?
• There are so many different types of plagiarism check apps that tell you if the content is plagiarized or not
• For teachers, if you think you're student is using a plagiarism technique, then just copy their research paper's sentence and paste it on any free plagiarism check website.
• If any content creator feels that they've done plagiarism, then they can just type out their content on any plagiarism check website to make sure, some of the plagiarism check websites also help you to check your grammar.
Sometimes we too feel that ideas are plagiarised. However, there is a particular definition of plagiarism, that is, copying or stealing the content of the original author or persons without giving credits.
Occasionally, ideas can be the same but it depends if you give credit or you don't.
Just as in the above picture, there are very few original ideas and loads of copy, some of them being credited and some are not.
Why is plagiarism a problem?
It's but obvious that plagiarism is immoral because it's like stealing or looting ideas. It is like being dishonest towards the actual creator. As human beings, we need to honour the author of the work. We all live in a society with certain ethics and rules and such unsaid rules should be followed to keep society healthy.
How do we avoid plagiarism?
• First and foremost, if you're a writer, after jotting down your ideas, use a plagiarism check tool to avoid any plagiarism. If anything such is detected try to change it or give the credits.
• Use your brain, you are an educated person, use your imagination to make content, don't just blindly depend on the Internet. We all used to write and work even before the Internet existed.
• The best way to avoid plagiarism is to use quotation marks wherever needed. That defines where you have taken from.
• Use a variety of references to help yourself while writing content on anything or anyone.
• Be aware if anyone has used your content, you can take legal action against the person.
What legal actions can be taken?
• If it is proved that plagiarism has been done then the owner of the original content can put Copywrite infringement on the other person and could get the money he/she has earned from his content.
• If there's plagiarism in the assignment then the teacher can fail or deduct the marks of the student.
• In the United States, if the person is found doing plagiarism then he's fined between $100 to $50,000, also one year in jail.
• Self-plagiarism or using your content is also not allowed, since it's seen as being dishonest and a form of literary theft.
Such a Good Piece! It's good That someone is spreading awareness for something necessary! 🌻
